HUMANSPACE

Concept

HUMANSPACE is an exhibition project by Sándor Polgári that explores the relationship between the human figure, the moment, and personal experience through painting.

The figures appearing in the paintings do not necessarily depict specific individuals or characters in identifiable narratives. Instead, they embody human situations and forms of presence, expressed through body language, surroundings, composition, and painterly treatment. The images remain open to interpretation, without prescribing a single reading.

HUMANSPACE is built around the personal encounter between the paintings and the viewer. The figures may evoke memories, awaken familiar feelings, or create impressions that are difficult to put into words. The meanings that emerge from these encounters take shape in relation to each viewer’s own experiences.

The space suggested by the title refers both to the visual space within the paintings and to the inner space that may open up through contemplation. The project offers no predetermined narratives or prescribed paths of interpretation. Instead, it allows time and freedom for an encounter with the images.

Through a painterly exploration of human presence, HUMANSPACE creates an opportunity for each viewer to discover the personal significance of the works through their own experience.
