BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY

Concept

Between Earth and Sky is an exhibition project bringing together a selection of paintings from Sándor Polgári’s recent body of work. The exhibition explores human presence, memory, emotional experience and the relationship between the individual and the world that surrounds them.

The works move between landscapes, figures, places and inner states. Some images emerge from recognisable situations, while others are shaped by memory, intuition and personal experience. Together, they create a visual space in which the external world and the inner world continually meet.

The exhibition is conceived as a quiet, contemplative experience. Rather than following a linear narrative, the works are arranged to allow different visual and emotional connections to emerge between them. The visitor is invited to move through the exhibition at their own pace, allowing individual images to become points of attention, recognition or personal association.

The paintings are deliberately open in their meaning. Their significance is not determined solely by the circumstances of their creation, but develops through the encounter with each viewer. A familiar place may evoke a personal memory; a figure may suggest an emotion that has no precise name; a particular light, colour or gesture may unexpectedly connect the present moment with something remembered.

Between Earth and Sky can therefore be understood as both a painting exhibition and a space of encounter. The works provide the starting point, while the viewer’s own experience completes the process. Between what is seen and what is remembered, between the tangible world and the inner landscape, each visitor encounters a different version of the same exhibition.
